  • CHAP Home Care Standards of Excellence

    The new Home Care standards replace CHAP' previous Private Duty Standards and are effective January 1, 2021.

    The Home Care Standards are written broadly in recognition of the emerging standards of care/services in this − the most frequent − type of care/services provided in the home. The varying parameters of state law and regulation for these services are taken into account. They recognize the scope of support services currently provided by organized entities and paid for by a variety of funding sources. The Home Care Standards speak to the quality of care and services delivered to support function of daily living typically provided to clients long-term over days, months or years. The standards address areas of quality performance that apply to all organizations seeking Home Care Accreditation, as well as three chapters dedicated to specific services including professional healthcare services, personal care services and companion and environmental services.

  • Preparing for the Home Infusion Benefit Under the Proposed Final Rule

    This recorded Webinar explains the history, CMS Conditions for Coverage and the CHAP Infusion Standards for the Home Infusion Therapy Benefit.

The one hour presentation provides an overview of the developmental history of the new Home Infusion Benefit. This benefit is still in the proposed rule stage at the time of this recording. The presentation will also review the conditions for coverage and basis for payment of the benefit. In addition, a standard by standard review with best practice suggestions of the CHAP Infusion Standards is provided. The benefit is effective as of January 1, 2021.

  • CHAP Hospice Licensure Standards of Excellence v.1.1.0

    CHAP is contracted with several states to complete the licensure site visit. This may enable providers to attain licensure sooner than through other means.   • CHAP Home Health Standards of Excellence v.2.1.1

    The CHAP Standards of Excellence framework has been redesigned to support a customized approach to accreditation that focuses on the specific types of care and services provided by each organization. In addition, the content of the CHAP Standards of Excellence has been updated to better reflect current practices in quality improvement and the home care industry.

    The CHAP Standards of Excellence were effective January 13, 2018 with the most recent revision occurring in November of 2019. The latest revision includes standards to address the following topics which were revised in the Medicare Conditions of Participation: discharge processes, Emergency Preparedness and Home Health Aide competency requirements. 

    These standards also apply to Medicaid home health providers seeking initial or renewed  accreditation in states that require compliance with the Medicare home health CoPs.
