    CHAP is happy to offer a DMEPOS accreditation intensive allowing customers to learn about the CHAP DMEPOS standards and processes and provide consultants the opportunity to become DMEPOS certified. For consultants, this training will help prepare you to work with customers and guide them through the process of becoming accredited. A post-workshop exam is required to become certified (passing score of 80% is required).

    This session is intended for all CHAP DMEPOS accredited agencies or those who wish to learn about CHAP Standards of Excellence for DMEPOS. This one-and-a-half-day workshop will provide an overview of the CHAP standards for DMEPOS, the most frequent citations in each area, and tips to deal with these challenges. 

    This is an interactive and engaging virtual learning opportunity! The event is designed to promote the active participation of each individual attendee, and, as such, each registration is an individual registration.

    Shannon Dorsey-Dunlap is a healthcare professional with 29 years of experience. She is a licensed, registered Respiratory Therapist and a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, with a Masters of Business Administration.

    Prior to joining CHAP, Shannon dedicated her career to the Home Health, Skilled Nursing, and DME (Durable Medical Equipment) industries. During this time, she held leadership positions including Administrator, Vice President of Compliance and Risk Management, Vice President of Operations, General Manager, and Regional Quality Improvement Manager.  She has also served as a field surveyor for The Joint Commission.

    While serving in a compliance role, Shannon obtained multiple certifications including:  HealthCare Compliance (CHC), Corporate Compliance and Ethics (CCEP), Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), and Home Care Specialist Compliance (HCS-C).

    Keri comes to CHAP with 17 years’ experience in the post-acute healthcare industry and has held a variety of positions from direct patient care as a Registered Nurse to chief executive in both home health and hospice organizations. She has a passion for community-based care and enjoys educating others and contributing to their growth and development as a healthcare professional. Keri previously served as a board member/officer for the Oregon Hospice & Palliative Care Association. She received her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler, and her Nursing degree from the University of Wyoming.

    Most recently, Keri served as a Home Care Surveyor for 5 years with The Joint Commission where she conducted surveys for home care organizations across the country and provided education to organizations regarding standards, regulations, and operational processes. During her last year and a half as a surveyor, Keri was responsible for the onboarding and orientation process of new home care surveyors. She has led several projects and workgroups to include educational presentation development, technological survey advancements, standard operating procedure development, and new hire orientation development. In addition to developing educational presentations, Keri has been a speaker/presenter at state association conferences across the country.

    Formerly, Keri served as Executive Director for Coastal Home Health & Hospice where she was responsible for overall agency operations and management. She also served as a Director of Accreditation for CHAP responsible for operational oversight and survey activities to validate consistent application of accreditation and regulatory standards for community health providers with a focus on safe, quality patient care delivery.

    Vice president of Learning Solutions, Jan Sweat comes to CHAP with over 25 years of experience in healthcare, with a focus in the post-acute industry. For nearly two decades, she worked for Kindred at Home in sales, sales leadership, operations, and talent development.   

    Prior to joining CHAP, Sweat directed the education and success of tens of thousands of healthcare professionals in Hospice, Home Health, and Palliative Care nationwide. In addition to her classroom impact, she spent several years as a growth strategist connecting corporate strategy to field implementation and interim area management. These roles equipped her with a unique perspective to solve provider problems with robust solutions.    

    After graduating from North Georgia College and State University earning a degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology, she served as a case manager in a metro Atlanta hospital and a nursing home social service director for several years, where she supported countless patients and families.

    Jennifer Kennedy

    Vice President of Quality and Standards

    CHAP - Community Health Accreditation Partner

    Dr.Jennifer Kennedy will lead all performance improvement activities at CHAP usingtargeted indicators of patient-centered performance and care. In addition, shewill also design, revise, and develop our CHAP Standards of Excellence.

    In herprevious role, she has served as the Senior Director of Quality &Regulatory for the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization and hasbeen with the organization since 2006. She has more than 35 years of experienceas a leader and nurse in diverse healthcare settings and has worked in hospiceand palliative care for the last 20+ years.

    She has a doctoral degreein health care education and policy, a dual master’s degree in health educationand case management, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and is a certifiedhealthcare compliance professional.

    Jennifer led the NHPCOhospice quality team and interacted with CMS and their contractors related tohospice regulatory and quality issues. She is also a member of the ANA’snational palliative nursing task group and has been honored by the UK’s St.Christopher’s Hospice as a Nursing Pioneer for their 2020 Palliative CareNursing Project.

    Bill Taylor

    CPA

    Bill Taylor is a North Carolina based CPA who learned Hospice and Home Health at MVI where he led the consulting division for many years. He started his professional life as Journalism major at the University of Tennessee and later gravitated toward accounting after running a newspaper plant for several years. Semi-retired, Bill now does the occasional project for MVI, processes Medicare Cost Reports and teaches for CHAP.

    Bill also serves on the NHPCO Finance and IT Steering Committee.

    Denise Stanford is passionate about the impact of education and training on quality improvement in healthcare. As someone who has utilized community-based healthcare services for loved ones, she understands the importance of high-quality care and services.

    Denise personally experienced how education and training can transform an individual’s life and the lives of those they touch. Denise has been working as an educator in community-based healthcare for nearly a decade. She greatly enjoys creating learning experiences that engage learners and teach real-time skills that can be immediately applied on the job. Her master’s degree in adult learning has allowed her to work on the development of workshops and e-learning for healthcare professionals, focus on training for community members, and serve as an adjunct professor working with first-time college students. In her role at CFE, she helps craft meaningful learning experiences and oversees the operation of the department.

    Keri comes to CHAP with 17 years’ experience in the post-acute healthcare industry and has held a variety of positions from direct patient care as a Registered Nurse to chief executive in both home health and hospice organizations. She has a passion for community-based care and enjoys educating others and contributing to their growth and development as a healthcare professional. Keri previously served as a board member/officer for the Oregon Hospice & Palliative Care Association. She received her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler, and her Nursing degree from the University of Wyoming.

    Most recently, Keri served as a Home Care Surveyor for 5 years with The Joint Commission where she conducted surveys for home care organizations across the country and provided education to organizations regarding standards, regulations, and operational processes. During her last year and a half as a surveyor, Keri was responsible for the onboarding and orientation process of new home care surveyors. She has led several projects and workgroups to include educational presentation development, technological survey advancements, standard operating procedure development, and new hire orientation development. In addition to developing educational presentations, Keri has been a speaker/presenter at state association conferences across the country.

    Formerly, Keri served as Executive Director for Coastal Home Health & Hospice where she was responsible for overall agency operations and management. She also served as a Director of Accreditation for CHAP responsible for operational oversight and survey activities to validate consistent application of accreditation and regulatory standards for community health providers with a focus on safe, quality patient care delivery.

    Jan Sweat

    Vice president of Learning Solutions, Jan Sweat comes to CHAP with over 25 years of experience in healthcare, with a focus in the post-acute industry. For nearly two decades, she worked for Kindred at Home in sales, sales leadership, operations, and talent development.   

    Prior to joining CHAP, Sweat directed the education and success of tens of thousands of healthcare professionals in Hospice, Home Health, and Palliative Care nationwide. In addition to her classroom impact, she spent several years as a growth strategist connecting corporate strategy to field implementation and interim area management. These roles equipped her with a unique perspective to solve provider problems with robust solutions.    

    After graduating from North Georgia College and State University earning a degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology, she served as a case manager in a metro Atlanta hospital and a nursing home social service director for several years, where she supported countless patients and families.

    CHAP operations certification workshop empowers hospice leaders with the education, training, and certification they need to grow their agency with integrity. Industry experts developed a program to give you all the tools you need for operational excellence with a goal of patient-centered care.     This two-and-a-half-day workshop will focus on giving you all the tools you need for operational excellence with a goal of patient-centered care. This is a hands-on, skill-based workshop that is focused in on the Hospice industry and has a tailored approach to increasing agency success.  Facilitated in part by Dr. Jennifer Kennedy, CHAP Vice President of Quality & Compliance! This workshop is open to everyone working in the hospice industry or wanting to get into the industry.

    Dr.Jennifer Kennedy will lead all performance improvement activities at CHAP usingtargeted indicators of patient-centered performance and care. In addition, shewill also design, revise, and develop our CHAP Standards of Excellence.

    In herprevious role, she has served as the Senior Director of Quality &Regulatory for the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization and hasbeen with the organization since 2006. She has more than 35 years of experienceas a leader and nurse in diverse healthcare settings and has worked in hospiceand palliative care for the last 20+ years.

    She has a doctoral degreein health care education and policy, a dual master’s degree in health educationand case management, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and is a certifiedhealthcare compliance professional.

    Jennifer led the NHPCOhospice quality team and interacted with CMS and their contractors related tohospice regulatory and quality issues. She is also a member of the ANA’snational palliative nursing task group and has been honored by the UK’s St.Christopher’s Hospice as a Nursing Pioneer for their 2020 Palliative CareNursing Project.

    Bill Taylor is a North Carolina based CPA who learned Hospice and Home Health at MVI where he led the consulting division for many years. He started his professional life as Journalism major at the University of Tennessee and later gravitated toward accounting after running a newspaper plant for several years. Semi-retired, Bill now does the occasional project for MVI, processes Medicare Cost Reports and teaches for CHAP.

    Bill also serves on the NHPCO Finance and IT Steering Committee.

    This course provides a comprehensive discussion of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias as we follow the story of Grace, a patient diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease who is being cared for by her daughter, Shelby. Tips for Managing Dementia Behaviors are taught in a realistic approach for home care and hospice situations. Promoting comfort and avoiding behavior triggers in patients diagnosed with these conditions is a key focus.
