CHAP Home Care - Gaining Compliance Under the New Home Care Standards (Previously Known as Private Duty)
An overview of the CHAP Home Care Standards of Excellence that became effective January1, 2021 and replaced the prior CHAP Private Duty Standards of Excellence and CHAP Core Standards.
The focus of this webinar is geared toward the provider who had been previously accredited under the CHAP Private Duty Standards of Excellence. Key points for review include the differences between the prior standards and our current Home Care standards and the importance of having knowledge of any state requirements for the services each agency provides. Resources to aid in preparation of a site visit are also shared.
By the end of February 2021, a separate Home Care webinar offering will be posted on the education page with a focus towards the new Home Care Provider and will address in more detail tips for compliance and common areas of citations on site visits.

Bobbie Warner is a Registered Nurse who obtained her BSN from Eastern University. Bobbie has worked in the community health environment for over 25 years in multiple capacities. Her community-based career began with providing direct patient care for several years in home health, hospice and private duty. She has held multiple management roles in Administration, Education and Performance Improvement. Bobbie joined CHAP in 2009 as a Site Visitor; moved into the role of Director of Accreditation in 2015 and In March of 2020 Bobbie took on the role of CHAP’s Director of Education. She gets true enjoyment when witnessing the “light bulb” moment of a learner.

This document includes a summary of questions submitted by CHAP providers in relation to the Home Infusion Therapy Benefit.
These FAQ’s include general questions related to the CMS Infusion Therapy Benefit as well as questions specific to CHAP’s Infusion Therapy Nursing Standards and CHAP’s Infusion Therapy Nursing accreditation process. The FAQ document was updated in March of 2021 to include questions posed of CMS and their responses. These have been added in red.

CHAP Home Medical Equipment (HME) Standards of Excellence are deigned for Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) suppliers provide equipment, supplies and services to people to use in recovery, rehabilitation and/or management of chronic conditions. Their patients and clients depend on superior quality products and services, which are as varied as the patients they serve.
Such products and services include respiratory and sleep therapy equipment, complex rehabilitation supplies, tools for asthma treatment, continuous passive motion devices, hospital beds, external infusion pumps, wheelchairs and diabetic shoes, to name a few.
CHAP's standards for home medical equipment providers include teaching customers to set up and safely operate the equipment.
