    CHAP is happy to offer a DMEPOS accreditation intensive allowing customers to learn about the CHAP DMEPOS standards and processes and provide consultants the opportunity to become DMEPOS certified. For consultants, this training will help prepare you to work with customers and guide them through the process of becoming accredited. A post-workshop exam is required to become certified (passing score of 80% is required).

    This session is intended for all CHAP DMEPOS accredited agencies or those who wish to learn about CHAP Standards of Excellence for DMEPOS. This one-and-a-half-day workshop will provide an overview of the CHAP standards for DMEPOS, the most frequent citations in each area, and tips to deal with these challenges. 

    This is an interactive and engaging virtual learning opportunity! The event is designed to promote the active participation of each individual attendee, and, as such, each registration is an individual registration.

    • The format of the DMEPOS Standards of Excellence

    Shannon Dorsey-Dunlap is a healthcare professional with 29 years of experience. She is a licensed, registered Respiratory Therapist and a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, with a Masters of Business Administration.

    Prior to joining CHAP, Shannon dedicated her career to the Home Health, Skilled Nursing, and DME (Durable Medical Equipment) industries. During this time, she held leadership positions including Administrator, Vice President of Compliance and Risk Management, Vice President of Operations, General Manager, and Regional Quality Improvement Manager.  She has also served as a field surveyor for The Joint Commission.

    CHAP operations certification workshop empowers home care leaders with the education, training, and certification they need to grow their agency with integrity. Industry experts developed a program to give you all the tools you need for operational excellence with a goal of client-centered care.     This two-day workshop will focus on building up your operational toolkit with the goal of helping you effectively run (and GROW) your agency while providing client-centered care. This is a skill-based workshop with focused activities for the home care/private duty providers with a tailored approach to increase agency success. This workshop is open to anyone in the home care/private duty industry, whether already working in it, looking to get into it, or expanding your community-based services.

    Wendy is an accomplished and experienced nurse and operations leader, with over 25 years of dedicated service in the field of home care. As the owner of a successful healthcare consulting business, Wendy has demonstrated her expertise in various capacities, including as a CHAP certified consultant, legal nurse consultant, and accreditation surveyor.

    Throughout her career, Wendy has served in both state and national roles, notably as VP, Operations and Director of Advocacy for national home care agencies, where she played a pivotal role in shaping industry standards and advocating for the advancement of home care services. Her extensive experience extends to new business start-ups, where she has consistently proven her ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and establishing thriving ventures.

This is a great training for all of our Home Care (Private Duty) customers regardless of what stage of the accreditation process you are in. This workshop also provides the opportunity for consultants to become Home Care Certified. This training will help prepare you to work with customers and guide them through the process of becoming accredited. A post workshop exam is required to become certified (passing score of 80% is required).

    This session is intended for all CHAP Home Care accredited agencies or those who wish to learn about the CHAP Standards of Excellence for Home Care. The two-day session will provide an overview of the CHAP Standards for Home Care, the most frequent citations in each area, and tips for dealing with these challenges. This service line was previously known as private duty and includes both skilled and non-skilled private duty services.

    Dr. Jennifer Kennedy is the Vice President of Quality, Standards, & Compliance. She spent many years as a leader and nurse in diverse healthcare settings with the past 25 years in hospice and palliative care.

    Dr. Kennedy came to CHAP in 2021 with a vision of moving the organization’s quality forward as “the” accreditation partner of choice for the majority of community-based providers. She believes no matter what type of care a patient receives or how many times they receive care, every experience should be of the highest quality.

    Kennedy leads the CHAP quality team and interacts with CMS related to regulatory and quality issues. Kennedy serves as faculty at national and state conferences, is widely published in medical trade journals, contributes to and reviews health care published materials, is a published author, and teaches graduate healthcare administration courses at the university level.

    Kennedy serves as a member of the Hospice & Palliative Care Network of Maryland board of directors and has been honored by the UK’s St. Christopher’s Hospice as a Nursing Pioneer for their 2020 Palliative Care Nursing Project.

    Bill Taylor is a North Carolina based CPA who learned Hospice and Home Health at MVI where he led the consulting division for many years. He started his professional life as Journalism major at the University of Tennessee and later gravitated toward accounting after running a newspaper plant for several years. Semi-retired, Bill now does the occasional project for MVI, processes Medicare Cost Reports and teaches for CHAP.

    CHAP is excited to offer our customers a virtual version of our Accreditation Intensive. This event is for all of our customers regardless of what stage of the accreditation process you are in. *This workshop also serves as new or renewing consultant training. There will also be an additional post-workshop virtual component and a consultant competency exam (must have 80% to pass) for CHAP Consultant Certification.

    Both the Home Health and Hospice accreditation intensives will focus on the accreditation process, the CHAP accreditation standards, the most cited deficiencies, and strategies to implement to attain improved compliance within your own organization. Click here to register for both Hospice and Home Health events.

    *This workshop also serves as new or renewing consultant training. There will be an additional registration fee of $49 for the consultant competency exam (must be taken within 6 month and have 80% to pass) for CHAP Consultant Certification.     Linda Lockhart brings decades of experience from the ground up, starting as a staff RN and progressing to administrative leadership, and expertise which spans both free standing and hospital-based home health agencies, providing a comprehensive understanding of the sector.

    Her career trajectory includes a unique chapter with Health and Human Services in Florida, where she served as a fiscal intermediary, conducting rigorous weekly and monthly audits. This role forged her expertise in regulatory oversight and financial accountability. Driven by a commitment to quality, she pursued a graduate degree, aligning her expertise with her long-held goal of contributing to accreditation. Her work with CHAP, including nearly a decade as a Site Visitor, has enabled her to leverage this knowledge, guiding agencies toward achieving and maintaining the highest standards of care.
