This session is intended for all CHAP DMEPOS accredited agencies or those who wish to learn about CHAP Standards of Excellence for DMEPOS. This one-and-a-half-day workshop will provide an overview of the CHAP standards for DMEPOS, the most frequent citations in each area, and tips to deal with these challenges. 

This is an interactive and engaging virtual learning opportunity! The event is designed to promote the active participation of each individual attendee, and, as such, each registration is an individual registration. 

Objectives
The attendee will be educated on:
  • The format of the DMEPOS Standards of Excellence
  • The CHAP Accreditation process
  • An overview of the ten Standards of Excellence chapters
  • The top deficiencies in each of the chapter areas and tips for success
  • Engagement activities to reinforce skill development & content knowledge

CHAP Certified Consultants – completion of this DMEPOS Accreditation Intensive Workshop and the DMEPOS Consultant Certification Test with a passing score (80% min) will allow the consultant to include DMEPOS consulting on their CHAP consultant page.

Participating in this workshop in no way guarantees the outcome of the accreditation process. The content is meant to help participants understand the accreditation process, learn common areas of deficiencies, understand how to gain compliance in the most commonly citied standards and utilize and implement the QAPI process. 

Shannon Dorsey-Dunlap

Shannon Dorsey-Dunlap is a healthcare professional with 29 years of experience. She is a licensed, registered Respiratory Therapist and a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, with a Masters of Business Administration.

Prior to joining CHAP, Shannon dedicated her career to the Home Health, Skilled Nursing, and DME (Durable Medical Equipment) industries. During this time, she held leadership positions including Administrator, Vice President of Compliance and Risk Management, Vice President of Operations, General Manager, and Regional Quality Improvement Manager.  She has also served as a field surveyor for The Joint Commission.

While serving in a compliance role, Shannon obtained multiple certifications including:  HealthCare Compliance (CHC), Corporate Compliance and Ethics (CCEP), Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), and Home Care Specialist Compliance (HCS-C).  

Keri Culhane

Clinical Nurse Educator

Boasting an extensive 17-year background in the post-acute healthcare realm, Keri Culhane bridges the gap between direct patient care and high-level executive leadership. Her journey began as a Registered Nurse, evolving seamlessly into leadership roles within home health and hospice organizations.

Culhane recently served as a post-acute surveyor for 5 years, ensuring operational excellence across organizations nationwide. Furthermore, her commitment to educating others about standards and regulations is evident from her comprehensive role in onboarding and mentoring new surveyors.

Prior to becoming CHAP’s Clinical Nurse Educator, Culhane showcased her operational acumen as the Executive Director for a regional post-acute care agency. Additionally, her time as CHAP’s Director of Accreditation underscored her dedication to maintaining and ensuring the consistent application of regulatory standards, with patient-centered care, safety, and care quality at the forefront.

Armed with an MBA from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Nursing degree from the University of Wyoming, Culhane’s educational background solidifies her stature in the field.

Beyond her operational contributions, she’s an esteemed voice at state association conferences, sharing her insights and expertise.

Today, as CHAP’s Clinical Nurse Educator, she is not only poised to enhance community health initiatives but is fervently championing the cause of nurturing and shaping the future trailblazers of the healthcare realm.
