This comprehensive training session is designed to equip clinical managers with essential skills for robust regulatory compliance, integrated with essential leadership and communication skills. 

Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of driving and maintaining compliance through clinical oversight. This includes a deep dive into the complex landscape of regulatory bodies, with particular emphasis on the Conditions of Participation guiding home health and hospice agencies. The workshop will also emphasize utilizing Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) principles as a cornerstone for continuous regulatory adherence and operational excellence. Attendees will leave with practical, actionable strategies for not only meeting but exceeding the highest standards of care and operational compliance in their roles. 

Beyond regulatory imperatives, the session will also address essential leadership and communication skills that are vital for fostering a culture of compliance. This includes effective team leadership, performance management, coaching techniques, conflict resolution, and navigating difficult conversations. Additionally, participants will learn about fundamental home health and hospice finances, including practical strategies for budgeting and resource management that align with financial compliance and ethical guidelines, ensuring all operational decisions support regulatory integrity. 

Learning Objectives 

By the end of this educational workshop, participants will be able to: 

  • Define clinical oversight and identify the roles of key regulatory bodies impacting home health and/or hospice operations, ensuring comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements. 
  • Implement clinical oversight by integrating the Conditions of Participation directly into daily clinical practice.  
  • Utilize Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) principles to drive continuous improvement in patient care and operational outcomes, with a primary focus on enhancing regulatory compliance. 
  • Understand and apply fundamental home health and hospice financial principles, including budgeting and resource management techniques, to ensure financial compliance, ethical stewardship, and uphold organizational integrity in clinical operations. 
  • Apply essential communication skills to effectively lead teams, provide coaching and mentorship, and navigate conflict resolution and difficult conversations, all in a manner that supports a compliant and high-performing clinical environment.

Kelley is a clinical quality and programming consultant specializing in home health and home care. Most recently, she developed a CHAP accreditation and skilled nursing services program for Homewatch CareGivers. Kelley is also the co-founder of a health tech startup supporting family caregivers. Her career includes creating a change-in-condition program that elevated the role of unlicensed assistive personnel, designing and launching national-level clinical initiatives for home health providers, and fostering outcome-driven provider collaborations. She has also led paradigm-shifting work in psychiatric and emergency care delivery. Kelley's mission is to bring meaningful healthcare solutions to vulnerable populations while championing the value and contributions of every member of the care continuum.

She holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from Ball State University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from IUPUI, and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Chamberlain University.

Fun fact: Kelley grew up building and drag racing Ford Mustangs. These days, she still chases adrenaline on roller coasters, though balances it out with a deep appreciation for good wine and cheese.

Denise personally experienced how education and training can transform an individual’s life and the lives of those they touch. Denise has been working as an educator in community-based healthcare for over a decade. She greatly enjoys creating learning experiences that engage learners and teach real-time skills that can be immediately applied on the job. Her master’s degree in adult learning has allowed her to work on the development of workshops and e-learning for healthcare professionals, focus on training for community members, and serve as an adjunct professor working with first-time college students. In her role at CFE, she helps craft meaningful learning experiences and oversees the operation of the department.

Kim Tate is a registered nurse, healthcare consultant and educator with more than 30 years of experience in home health and hospice. She has served in progressive leadership roles including Director of Nursing, Administrator, Clinical Operations Consultant and Vice President of Clinical Excellence, where she led initiatives that strengthened compliance, improved quality outcomes, and elevated operational performance. 

As the founder of Tate Healthcare Consulting Solutions, Kim partners with agencies and leaders to achieve excellence in survey readiness, compliance, operational excellence and build lasting systems for quality improvement.  A CHAP-certified consultant and active member of the American and Oklahoma Nurses Associations, she is known for her collaborative approach, regulatory expertise, and dedication to helping agencies and leaders deliver exceptional care. Kim brings this wealth of experience to her CHAP role through the development and presentation of education.
